To say further, Prajacta is a Principal Interior Designer and Founder & Design Head of White Lotus Interior Studio. Let’s learn more about her background, her inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Prajacta:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
I am an architect, but my journey into the world of design started much earlier. At the age of 16, I took a short diploma course in interior design in Mumbai, which ignited my passion for transforming spaces. Following this, I pursued my graduation in architecture, further solidifying my foundation in design and creativity.
After completing my studies and gaining two years of professional experience, I co-founded White Lotus Interior Studio (formerly known as Arch Avenue) in Gurgaon. This was a significant milestone in my career, allowing me to focus on high-end designs for residences and hospitality projects.
Our work was widely appreciated, and many of our projects were published on esteemed platforms. During this phase, we worked across tier 1 and tier 2 cities in North and Central India, building a strong reputation for our commitment to excellence.
Life then brought us to Bangalore, where we faced the challenge of starting afresh in a new market. It took time to understand the dynamics and patterns of the industry here, but we used this as an opportunity to evolve our approach. We began focusing more on Interior Architecture, blending structural elements with aesthetic design to create cohesive and impactful spaces.
Today, after completing more than 250 projects across India and a few internationally, we have reached a stage where we can be selective about the work we take on. This allows us to dedicate our energy and creativity to truly unique projects that add significant design value.
Our goal moving forward is to focus on projects that align with our vision of innovation and excellence, both in India and internationally.
‘White Lotus Interior Studio’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
While looking for simpler things in life, we realized how we miss out on the beauty around us. The essence of White Lotus is more of bespoke designs, crafted with a lot of personalization keeping in mind the purity of quality. Our focus is simple but our designs are very innovative.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
Dealing with an unorganized industry presents daily challenges, but it also pushes us to innovate and find creative solutions. Whether it’s streamlining communication, setting clear expectations, or ensuring quality standards, we focus on building systems that bring structure to chaos.
This approach not only helps us deliver exceptional results but also strengthens relationships with clients and vendors, creating a more efficient and trustworthy process.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
The Power of Adaptability – Life is constantly changing, and being flexible allows us to embrace new opportunities and overcome challenges. Resilience often grows from adaptability.
The Importance of Relationships – Genuine connections—whether personal or professional—are the cornerstone of happiness and success. Nurturing relationships with kindness, respect, and honesty creates lasting bonds.
Growth Comes From Discomfort – Stepping out of your comfort zone, taking risks, and facing challenges head-on are where true growth happens. It’s in these moments we discover our strength and potential.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
“Success is the result of perseverance, adaptability, and staying true to your vision. In an ever-changing world, the ability to learn from challenges, innovate, and maintain a focus on delivering value to others is key. It’s about consistent effort, a positive mindset, and never losing sight of why you started.”
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
To build a successful career, first, focus on mastering the basics—develop a strong skill set and a solid foundation in your chosen field. Never underestimate the value of hard work, patience, and continuous learning. The industry is always evolving, so staying updated and adaptable is crucial.
Networking plays a vital role—connect with mentors, peers, and industry leaders who can guide and inspire you. Building relationships can open doors to new opportunities. Be willing to take on challenges and step out of your comfort zone. Failures and setbacks are part of the process; learn from them and use them as stepping stones to grow stronger.
Finally, align your career with your passion. When you’re genuinely excited about what you do, it reflects in your work and inspires others. Success is not just about reaching a position; it’s about creating a meaningful impact and enjoying the journey.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
“The most satisfying part of the entrepreneurial journey is witnessing your ideas take shape and impact others positively. From overcoming challenges to seeing your vision come to life, it’s rewarding to create something meaningful from scratch. Building relationships, learning through failures, and celebrating small wins along the way make the journey deeply fulfilling, especially when your work resonates with clients and aligns with your passion.”
